The Length of Norway

A 5 month expedition across Scandinavia.

Dramatic cliffs shooting up from the ocean. The water moving constantly with the wind. A perfectly cloudless sky. The sun beaming, making me sweat under my red button up shirt. The pack on my back filled to the brim with gear. Me filled to the brim with excitement. Thousands of kilometres ahead of me and only one way to go: North.

This was the scene on the 12th of May 2025, as I was standing on Lindesnes - the southernmost point in Norway - ready to begin my life’s adventure. Over the following five months, I would walk approximately 2500 kilometres through all of Norway before eventually reaching the top of Europe, Nordkapp.

ME STOOD AT NORDKAPP AFTER 5 MONTHS AND THOUSANDS OF KILOMETRES.

ME AT LINDESNES, READY TO BEGIN THE JOURNEY

A GLOOMY SKY LOOMING OVER THE TENT

This was my first truly long-term solo expedition. Carrying my entire life on my back, I traversed all kinds of landscapes, from the dramatic and jagged mountains of Jotunheim to the endless open plateau of Finnmark. I experienced the full spectrum of weather, from relentless heat to the unforgiving cold of the Arctic. Most importantly, I spent all day walking, and slept in a tent wherever I happened to find myself when it got dark.

I had a lot of firsts on this journey – my first through-hike, my first time above the Arctic Circle, my first real expedition, just to name a few – but more importantly, I  found out that I don’t want these experiences to be my last of the kind. I have fallen in love with this unique and incomparable way of experiencing the world, and am entirely certain that my future holds many more adventures like it.
